New Delhi, 28 March 2008: Following the launch of the new Swift DZiRE sedan, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has signalled the launch of another small car - A Star - this year itself, in the A2 segment. As stated by a company official, MSIL will be launching the 'A Star' from its Manesar plant at Haryana in October this year.

According to Mr.M M Singh, Managing Executive Officer (Production), the A Star would expand Maruti's A2 portfolio along with other models like WagonR and Zen Estilo.

The car would be exported to the European countries in addition to the domestic market.

The 'A Star Concept' was displayed by Maruti Suzuki at the recently held Delhi Auto Expo.

The company, which currently holds 55% domestic market share, launched the Swift DZire, the new entry level sedan car from the Maruti stable, two days back.

Swift Dzire was being manufactured at the Manesar plant, and was being designed and developed by engineers in India.

In the last 11 months, Maruti sold 41,800 units in the domestic market.
