Italy, 20 May 2008: Italian auto maker Fiat SpA plans to introduce eventually a convertible version of its revamped 500 city car along with a station wagon version, a source familiar with plans said on Monday.

The move would take place in light of the strong sales of the madeover 500, relaunched in July 2007.
Fiat has no timetable for introduction of the new versions, the source said.
Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne "has the plans, he will decide", said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Since the relaunch, Fiat has sold 182,000 units of the 500 through the end of the first quarter. Demand for the car has been so strong that Fiat has had to boost output.
